§ 19-46. Assault and battery.

(a)
It shall be unlawful for any person to commit an assault, or an assault and battery on any other person.
(b)
A person who commits an assault or assault and battery on an individual is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than ninety-three (93) days or a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00), or both.
